HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Tennis anyone? Leadership Huntsville/Madison County used tennis as a venue for fundraising as teams of players competed last weekend in a tournament that culminated in a doubles duel match between two mayors - Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Madison Mayor Troy Trulock.
The first annual Mayors Cup Tennis Tournament final match between Team Battle and Team Trulock went 8-3 in favor of Team Battle as Mayor Battle took advantage of his "age and experience."
After receiving the winner's trophy, Mayor Battle bestowed on Mayor Trulock the loser's trophy - a 1955 recycled "green" trophy offered in jest.
Both mayors deserve recognition for their willingness to compete in this inaugural event to benefit Leadership and look forward to a repeat match next year.
