Soul Wounds Are Like Ice In a Drink...

Soul wounds are like ice in a drink. You order a full cup, but it's impossible to completely fill the cup because the ice prevents it. So when you go to drink it, you find the drink is gone sooner than expected because it was never full to begin with. Love is the same way.

When you allow hurt, fear, rejection, bitterness, and unforgiveness to remain in your heart buried (or not) and unchecked, it is impossible for you to completely love someone else because your issues keep getting in the way. And it also makes it equally impossible to completely receive love from someone else for the same reason. You keep feeling drained and depleted of love, but you never allowed God to completely heal you to begin with.

On the outside you look good, but you're full of it.

And the person who wants to love you can't because you won't let them. But the solution is simple: get rid of the ice and allow Love to truly take up residence in you.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (I John 4:18)
