LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - A Lynchburg Police officer is in hot water after he was arrested by state police for driving while intoxicated on Sunday.
Police say Officer Timothy Dooley was arrested for DUI, first offense and refusal. They say he was off-duty at the time and was operating his own car when he was stopped by a state trooper on the Campbell Avenue exit/460 west ramp around 1:40 a.m. Sunday.
LPD says Officer Dooley has been employed with LPD for 15 years and currently is a Senior Specialist. Now, he has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay pending the outcome of both a criminal and internal investigation.
LPD says it is reviewing the matter internally while State Police handles the criminal investigation.
