Tre McBride to Play in East-West Shrine Game

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Having established himself as one of the nation's elite wide receivers, William and Mary senior All-America standout Tre McBride has accepted an invitation to play in the 2015 East-West Shrine Game.

After earning second-team all-conference honors as a sophomore in 2012, McBride garnered All-America distinction last season and was selected as the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Year. Additionally, the McDonough, Ga., native earned all-league accolades as both a wideout and kick returner following his junior campaign.

One of the most productive receivers in school history, McBride ranks third on the program's career list in receptions (188), fifth in receiving yards (2,519), sixth in touchdown catches (19), sixth in all-purpose yards (4,100) and sixth kickoff returns (1,247).

The Shrine Game boasts an impressive list of players who have participated in the event, including Tom Brady, Brett Favre, John Elway, Walter Payton and Gale Sayers.

McBride will be the second Tribe player to participate in the game, as former All-America tight end Drew Atchison suited up for the 2008 contest. Atchison went on to sign a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

This year's game, which is scheduled for Jan. 17, will mark the 90th time the contest has been played.
