UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Mitchell D. Cohen, retired vice chairman of PwC, will be the next speaker for the Penn State Smeal College of Business Ethics and Executives Speaker Series, set for noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in 217 Business Building.

Cohen, who graduated from Smeal in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, was responsible for PwC’s New York metro region, as well as the firm’s network alignment leader, at the time of his retirement. He worked at PwC for 33 years, the last 22 as a partner. During his time at PwC, he served a number of Fortune 500 telecom and technology clients and held a variety of industry leadership roles. He is a member of the Smeal Board of Visitors (BOV).

“As one of our successful alumni and a member of our Board of Visitors, Mitch is an important member of the Smeal Community,” said Charles H. Whiteman, John and Becky Surma Dean of Smeal. “He has worked tirelessly in support of the college, sharing his wisdom and expertise. I encourage students to take advantage of this terrific opportunity to hear from Mitch, and to attend the next Ethics and Executives session.”

Ethics and Executives, started in fall 2016, was initiated by Smeal’s BOV to provide students with a firsthand chance to hear about executives’ experiences with navigating an ethical dilemma in business. In a live session, executives share their personal stories and engage the student audience in a meaningful discussion. Through these sessions, students increase their ethical awareness, examine a wide range of ethical dilemmas and ethical decision-making practices, and prepare to be ethical leaders.

Students can register for Ethics and Executives online.

About integrity at Smeal
The Penn State Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, discovery, excellence and community unite all of us across the University. At the Smeal College of Business, one of the ways we express these values is through our Honor and Integrity program. In particular, the Smeal Honor Code, drafted in partnership with MBA students in 2006, promotes the values of community, integrity and responsibility. Integrity and ethical behavior are also infused into courses across the Smeal curriculum, and the G. Albert Shoemaker Program in Business Ethics supports ethics lectures and related scholarly research. For more information on integrity at Smeal, visit www.smeal.psu.edu/integrity.
