8.5 inches high, 13 inches long and 5.5 inches wide. It is a modern contemporary sculpture with Figured Black Cherry and Northern Wisconsin Cherry with turquoise inlay. It does have some burl and figuration throughout the entire piece.

Experiencing life's demands will create art. The key is you have to let it instill within yourself. Art is a expression. Or a big pile of feelings that want to bust out in some kind of form.

Art also can be therapy to heal or help deal with life’s great challenges. A way to vent grief, pain or anguish. But at the same time it can bring out happiness, satisfaction and warm thoughts.

Fulfilling a art aspiration is to produce a tangible piece that your viewer can sometimes relate to or maybe through expression the viewer can get a sense what the artist is trying to say. And hopefully link through the heart or soul.

A art piece can be part of an ongoing story the artist is going through or maybe watching in the background. As each page of the true to life story is turned a new vision appears.

I use only sustainable wood for the burl bowls and sculpture. This means it comes from managed forests generally here in Northern Wisconsin. I harvest it from trees that are either dead or down. I am a big believer in being eco-friendly and proud to live that life style. I like to find and harvest the burl myself giving me the visibility into the conditions under which the materials are being created. Also it helps me appreciate what was created for us and not take it for granted.

Artist Biography Doberstein first started his artistic pursuit with photography, stained glass and wood burning art mediums that were primarily focused on nature, sunset landscapes, work that was represented by local galleries. From there, Doberstein discovered the peaceful sound of the wood flute. He learned the art of making hand created wood flutes and started to record wood flute meditation music. The wood flute gently touched his soul and he developed a spiritual connection. He released his first album “Harvest Moon” and from there released several more albums that focus on the meditation spiritual theme. His music has traveled worldwide. The artist heart in him was restless as he then ventured into abstract wood art. Kevin Doberstein’s modern art centers on the free and unbinding world of abstraction. He also enjoys working with vivid color in acrylic and also mixing the two mediums together of figured wood and metal. His primary work is both standing and wall sculpture. Being born and raised in a culture of wood from the north forest of Wisconsin he learned how difficult working with wood can be at times. Wood art keeps him grounded and he found the universe had it planned for him. Now as a seasoned artist, he truly appreciates the early lessens he received. Currently he mixes metal with wood for sculpture. Doberstein also likes to work with the medium of acrylic paint on wood panels well. He feels this keeps him in balance in the world of abstract art. “For me it seems the bold colors spurs new wood sculpture designs”, says Doberstein. “I love working with both.” With the birth of Dobe Art Studio Doberstein developed into a more rounded artist learning more of the aspects of the fine art world. “Dobe Art Studio, was a creative renaissance for me reaching into the aspect of fine art” states Doberstein “It was a stimulus to my creative soul and it feels like I found my artistic home. It never leaves me and resides in my spiritual self” His sculpture and wall art have been collected by both a national and international audience. He has participated in art exhibitions and is represented in art galleries in Wisconsin and New Mexico. Artist Statement My main aspiration when creating abstract art is to stimulate the breath of life both in me and the viewer. There are occasions when I see a certain reflection or feeling in an art piece I created that echoes what I was experiencing at the time.
