AUBURN, Alabama -- D'haquille Williams' knee will be evaluated, but information is scarce regarding the Auburn receiver's future following an unspecified injury.

The junior suffered the injury on a catch attempt near Texas A&M's sideline early in the second quarter Saturday. Defensive back De'Vante Harris went low on a tackle attempt and hit the outside of Williams' right knee.

"He couldn't play in the second half and that is about it," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Saturday night. "I do not have any update at this time."

Williams had to be helped off the field by trainers. Dr. James Andrews and trainers examined Williams on the sideline, where he remained until he left for the locker room with the help of crutches shortly before halftime. He returned to the sideline on crutches to watch the end of Auburn's 41-38 loss to the Aggies.

"We told him to keep his head up," receiver Melvin Ray said. "He was actually giving us a lot of motivation. We just let him know we have his back and we're going to do everything we can to come out on top. Unfortunately we didn't. He's a strong guy. He'll be fine."

Williams had one catch for 11 yards against the Aggies. The first-year player out of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has 38 catches for 609 yards and five touchdowns.

Auburn's receivers did step up in Williams' absence. Nick Marshall was 5-of-6 passing for 139 yards in the fourth quarter, with Sammie Coates leading the way with two catches for 58 yards. Ricardo Louis had two catches for 50 yards and Quan Bray added a catch for 31 yards in the final 15 minutes.

Auburn travels to Georgia next week. A kickoff time has not yet been set.
Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell, who suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle against Auburn in a 35-31 loss to the Tigers on Nov. 1, tweeted support to Williams following the injury.
