WSU Volleyball 10th In Initial NCAA Central Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – In the midst of an impressive first season under head coach Joe Getzin, the Winona State volleyball team is slotted 10th in the initial rankings of the always-tough NCAA Central Region, the NCAA announced today.

The Warriors are one of six teams the NSIC placed in the region's top 10. Minnesota Duluth, Concordia-St. Paul and Southwest Minnesota State make up the top three while Wayne State sits fifth and Augustana is seventh. WSU beat Augustana last weekend on the road in five sets.

The top eight teams in the final rankings advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. Conference tournament winners from the NSIC, MIAA and GAC receive automatic bids, while the remaining five receive at-large bids.

Winona State (16-6, 11-5 NSIC) heads back to Winona to prepare for its final regular season home stand this weekend. The Warriors will host Northern State Friday at 7 p.m. before welcoming in MSU Moorhead Saturday at 4 p.m. in McCown Gym.
