Sentiers Royal is a mountain biking community from Montreal actually pushing to develop trails on the Mount Royal, the mountain at the heart of the city. Mountain biking has always been illegal at this location and riders have historically been facing fines given by the police or obstacles put in the trails. Our group aims at finally moving past this unsustainable situation by picking up from the efforts lead in 2007 and 2008 and giving a voice to the cyclist community, pushing forward a vision of durable trails and a well-mobilised community.

We invite you to sign our online petition, and join our Facebook group. Stay informed about our next developments. Together, we want to make it so that the spring of 2015 will be the one where mountain biking finally becomes legal on the Mount Royal.

"Many thanks for the support, - The Sentiers Royal community"

Hi everyone! I'm Gabriel Michaud, founder and current spokesperson of Sentiers Royal. If you have any questions about our current efforts, the situation with the City and other important institutions, or just your personal opinion, please share them with us here! I will be answering any questions in the comments section, like an informal AMA for any of your inquiries. Thanks again, and have a lot of fun riding!

Hi Gabriel, I'm an illegal Mont-Royal trail user too and just signed the petition.
I would like to know if there is any physical gathering or action scheduled toward the aforementioned MTL townhall, parcs urbains, etc...
And what about the Mont Saint-Hilaire ??? ;-)

We have a thoroughly planned approach to meet first with individuals working in various relevant departments at the City, before holding official meetings and depositing a final project at townhall. Right now, we are very close to completing the first step. Official meetings between the community's representatives, the City, and other bike advocate groups should happen during the winter, and the last phase should be close to the spring, where we will tie everything together.

One thing that gets us very optimistic about this process is that we are received with more open-minded attitudes from the authorities than before. Even Les Amis de la Montagne, a City organism tasked with environmental conservation on the mountain, is open to our ecological vision.

Regarding, Mont-Saint-Hilaire, the whole point of wanting to develop mtb in Montreal was so that people would not need to use their cars and get out of the city to enjoy mountain biking. We want to keep it on the island, and the Mt-Royal has been the best spot in this region since the birth of our sport Wink

It's about time. There's legal mountain biking in the middle of Toronto (Don Valley), no reason Montreal shouldn't have the same.

Nice vid and great project... Anybody cand give info on where to find the mount Murray trails ?? I know its illegal, and probably Sentier Royal doesnt want to give info on where the find the ''goods'' as it would be counter productive of their efforts to MTB being authorized... So i'm asking the users... thanks

Louis, riding on Mont Murray is not illegal, but "tolerated". If you want more info, please use PM.
