A1c is a type of blood test which shows how well is a person’s diabetic plan working; it is a way of testing the average sugar level over the past two to three months. A1c is a more accurate way of testing and knowing about the diabetes plan. A normal a1c level is considered to be below 5.7 percent and if the score is between 5.7 to 6.4 percent then it is called prediabetes.  In order to reach a lower A1C number one has to follow a healthy and a sedentary lifestyle.

Movement- It is necessary and advisable to at least workout for thirty minutes five days in a week; you can walk in a park, play any sport or just ride the bicycle indoors or outdoors for half an hour.

Balanced diet with proper portions- More than the diet it is important to keep a check on the serving of food; be it fruits, lean proteins, fats or carbohydrates like bread, potatoes and other starched the serving has to be limited. Overeating is something that has to be avoided along with processed foods and sugary drinks.

Make a schedule – Divide your meals in a manner that there is at least 2 hours gap between every meal. Skipping meals and keeping a long gap between meals can cause the blood sugar levels to fall and rise too much.

Follow the plan- One should stick to the diabetes plan suggested by the doctor, so it is better to talk to the doctor before making any changes in your plan.

Regular check of blood sugar- It is recommended to keep a check of the blood sugar level at home also; taking a test every two days would give you an idea about the rise and fall in your sugar level. By doing this you can also make alterations in the eating habit accordingly.
