Beyond the Cup

Lanna Coffee is roasting delicious coffee that goes beyond the cup. What that means for Lanna is it’s not just about an excellent cup of coffee (though they definitely deliver on that), but about how the coffee is sourced and the opportunities your cup of joe can provide.

The Backstory

For years, The Well has partnered with the Integrated Tribal Development Program (ITDP) in the Hilltribes of Northern Thailand. Previously considered one of the most poverty stricken areas in the world, the Hilltribes are being transformed. Village by village, change is coming and it’s coming in the form of a coffee plant.

Once overrun by drug cartels and human traffickers, ITDP’s founders, Richard and Marlene Mann, saw an opportunity over 55 years ago to set a group of people free. Now over 150 villages are producing coffee. Lanna coffee comes in and purchases this coffee at twice the Fair Trade market value. The financial independence that growing coffee provides allows for the villages to experience freedom in a way they haven’t been able to before.

Here’s Where You Come In

We are all powered by coffee. When you choose to purchase Lanna Coffee, you are creating more opportunity in the Hilltribes of Thailand. You have to drink your coffee anyway, so why not join the Lanna Club and have your coffee delivered right to your door?

Then when you’re drinking your coffee in the morning, take a moment to think about how your coffee purchase goes beyond the cup. Say a prayer for the villagers of Northern Thailand, and rest in knowing that your coffee isn’t just a cup of coffee anymore. It’s part of a greater mission.
