Mansfield truck stop armed robbery suspect arrested

MANSFIELD –

A convicted felon is back in jail following his arrest early today for an armed robbery at a Mansfield truck stop, according to a news release from DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle.

Deputies arrested Jarred Jacobi Jackson, 23, of Mansfield, after setting up a search perimeter behind Mansfield Travel Plaza. K-9 Kyra is credited with locating Jackson, who was on the ground on top of items from the robbery.

Jackson received medical treatment then was booked into the DeSoto Parish Detention Center on one count of armed robbery. Later this morning, another charge of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies was added.

The robbery was reported at 3:21 a.m. by employees who activated the panic alarm at the store on Lake Road. They told deputies the gunman concealed his face and was armed with a handgun. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The gun was located during a subsequent search of the area where Jackson was found. It matched a description given by witnesses to the crime.
