CCI Weekend Update!
View this email in your browser
Dear CCI Family and Friends,

I just got back from the Basics Conference, a conference for pastors and church leaders at Parkside Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and I had a tremendous time! I really enjoyed visiting with our very own Nick and Ally Spurgeon, both of whom work at Parkside, Nick as a member of the pastoral staff and Ally in their elementary school. I also heard some wonderful teaching, and also got to listen to about a dozen sermons on CD on my drive back home! I came home full! And I'm looking forward to being with you all this weekend! Here's what's coming up around CCI this weekend and into the future:
  • Saturday, 8:30AM, MEN'S BREAKFAST - Warren Spurgeon will be spreading a feast and we will enjoy, both the physical and the spiritual food as we share together.

  • Sunday, 10:00AM, SUNDAY WORSHIP - This Sunday is Mothers' Day and I'll be sharing a teaching called "Jesus On Mothers" where I'll share some of the things that Jesus had to say about mothers! He had a LOT to say and I think there is some real practical application for us today! We also have a very special gift for every mother in attendance, and I promise you that it's a very special gift! Sorry we don't have enough to send home - so come get yours!!! ;)

Our testimony this week will come from
Glenda Fruge and I'm looking forward to hearing it. I'm excited that Glenda will be sharing on Mother's Day as she has a real neat story. Glenda and John adopted 4 siblings many years ago and have been faithful, loving parents to them for many years. Glenda has also faced many physical and health challenges, but she has maintained her faith and positive attitude, and I know her testimony will be an encouragement to many!

By the way, our sanctuary is undergoing some much needed refreshing so you'll notice some work that is partially done. Please excuse our mess! And in spite of the visible repairs, this is going to be a wonderful worship service that I know you won't want to miss! So come ready to worship with me and the worship team and get ready to be blessed!

  • Wednesday, 6:30PM WEDNESDAY NIGHT WORSHIP - This week we'll pick back up with lesson 3 from our "Emotionally Healthy Relationships" class. For our regulars in the class, don't forget to do your "Daily Office" reading. And even if you didn't sign up for the class, feel free to join us because the material is always very interesting! This week we'll look at how the dynamics of our family origin affect how we interact with others. Get ready to put on your archaeologist's hat as we start sifting through history to uncover ancient secrets with modern-day application! (OK, that's about as good a tease as I can come up with! ;) )

  • By the way, I mention it in the list of upcoming events below, but I wanted to make sure you know that you are invited to help celebrate my mother's 75th birthday on Friday, May 25 at 6:00PM here at the church. Our theme is "75 Years Loved" and my mother is definitely that! She was a co-founder of Christian Challenge 42 years ago and has faithfully served for many years. Seventy-five years is a pretty big deal and I hope you'll come help me celebrate her!!!

  • Also, please note in the upcoming events that we have set the date for this year's weekend VBS as Friday-Sunday, July 6-8. There will be opportunities to sign up soon but we wanted to put this on your calendar as soon as we could.

That's what's coming up this weekend and into next week. Now here's a little glance at a few other things down to put on your calendar:
  • Mother's Day, May 13
  • Holly Oak Cemetery CleanUp, May 19
