UAE vs Thailand
World Cup Qualifier

Kick-off at 17:45 UK/ 18:45 CET

UAE continue their resurrection fight in World Cup qualifying group G when they welcome Thailand on Monday.
A poor first round of the campaign saw UAE defeated by Vietnam and Thailand and they are left with 9 points from 5 matches.
The repair started with the 4-0 mauling of Malaysia last week and they are most likely to carry on the momentum with remaining 3 games played on their home soil.
Thailand are also on 9 points, as are Malaysia and they have a good chance to go top of the group against Indonesia last week.
However, some sloppy moments in defense cost them three points. Despite taking the lead twice, they surrendered valuable points in the 2-2 draw.
Very few teams have troubled UAE in recent years as Thailand bagged an unlikely 2 wins and 3 draws from the 5 h2h meetings.
Yet, UAE are unbeaten against Thailand on home soil with 3 wins and 1 draw. All three wins happened in World Cup qualifiers with the exceptional draw coming during the final group game of 2019 AFC Asia Cup.
It is worth noting that both teams have scored in the last 5 meetings between these teams.
A majority of the recent struggles for UAE happened in foreign soil and they are handed a lifeline with the reminder of qualifying Group G happening scheduled in their home soil.
They have been in terrific form in their own backyard the last three wins came by big margins – 6-0 v India, 5-1 v Jordan and the latest 4-0 v Malaysia.
Thailand have some quality in their squad, however the new look UAE could take them to the cleaners on Monday.
