"Comer is hoping Jesus comes so he can get out. He is fed up,” a GOP lawmaker told CNN Wednesday.
Now, his colleagues are mocking Comer's failure.
"I was hoping our breakup would never become public," Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) posted on X. "We had such a great thing while it lasted, James. I will miss the time we spent together. I will miss our conversations."

The reference is to the public battles the two lawmakers had over the past year. In one instance, the Democrat highlighted one of the chairman's own financial entanglements.
Last November, Moskowitz said Comer has “gone on Fox News and told people that, while the president was out of office, he had a loan with his brother, and in a way, they were evading taxes.”
“It has come out in the public that you also do business with your brother with potential loans,” Moskowitz continued. “And, so, since you have framed that and manipulated that with the American people, that Joe Biden did something wrong when he wasn’t in office, I just would like to know if you would like to use some of my time—”
“I would love — I would love it,” Comer shot back. “You retweeted that story, completely false. I’ve never loaned my brother one penny. My father, who was a dentist, had some farmland. He died, and my brother couldn’t afford — he wanted to sell it, but he wanted to keep it in the family. So, I bought it from my brother. That story that you tweeted, also said I had a shell company. That is b-------.”
In that same debate, Comer called his colleague a "Smurf" because he was short and wearing blue.
A month later, Moskowitz poked the bear, having former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) do a Cameo video wishing Comer a Happy Hanukkah.
In the message, Santos congratulates Comer for being the "largest land owner in your county ... through all your LLCs. I think it's amazing that you share a passion for The Smurfs and The Pink Panther."
He goes on to say he hopes that Comer "slays" in the new year.
A House Republican Oversight and Reform Committee spokesperson denied the investigation was tapering off, saying, “The impeachment inquiry is ongoing, and impeachment is 100% still on the table.”
Moskowitz went on to tell Comer on Wednesday, "I will miss the pet names you gave me. I only wish you the best and hope you find happiness."
