Curbside service will start on June 15, 2020 for customers who had items on hold before the library closed. These customers will receive a notification that their holds are available. These customers can then make a reservation to pick up their materials.
New holds can be placed on items starting around June 29, 2020. Please wait until you receive a notification that your holds are available before making a pick-up reservation.
- This service is for library card holders in good standing.
- If you have fines on your account, please pay them prior to placing holds.
- No payments will be handled by staff during curbside pickup.
- Staff will not handle book returns. Please use the library book drop to return your materials.
- No book donations are being accepted at this time.

Effective Monday, June 15, Alexandria Library will offer an amnesty period. During this period, the library will waive fines and fees associated with materials which customers return during the amnesty period only. Fines and fees associated with items returned before the amnesty period will not be waived. Damaged and lost items will incur a replacement cost, but overdue fines will be removed. The amnesty period will last at least until July 31.
Any items checked out with a return date of March 18, 2020 and after are not accruing fines or overdue bills. As a reminder, you may return your items in the bookdrops at all library locations. Please note that due to quarantining of items, your returned items will continue to show on your account for at least 72 hours, until they are checked in. Please check your library account here.
