The 2019
Subaru Ascent
V.S. The Competition

A quality SUV that delivers on performance, comfort, convenience and reliability is all most who seek them out really want, and at Jenkins Subaru, finding it is simple. For a seven-passenger SUV, there's the all-new Subaru Ascent and already it's making quite an impression here at Jenkins Subaru. It has all the standout features you'd expect from a Subaru, and plenty more that help it stand out against others in its segment, and why it's a standout choice for you.

Similar vehicles like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander have a lot in common with the Ascent. They both seat seven, and have ample power, and other features. But, upon further review, you'll see that the Subaru Ascent gives you plenty of advantages and standout reasons why it provides the better choice, and benefits you in multiple ways.

2019 Subaru Ascent vs. 2018 Toyota Highlander

  • You're going to find Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as a standard feature on the Ascent for more command of the road, while the Highlander offers front-wheel drive standard and only adds on all-wheel drive, but doesn't give as smooth of a ride as the Ascent.
  • There's more torque from the Subaru Ascent as it has 277 pound-feet compared to the Highlander's 263, which means that there's better wheel power to accelerate in the Ascent for a smooth ride.
  • You'll find standard infotainment systems, with Subaru STARLINK® and Toyota Entune. The difference is that on the Ascent, STARLINK® comes with standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ while it does not on the Highlander and Entune.
  • The Ascent is also versatile enough to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, while the Highlander can only tow 2,000 pounds meaning your bigger adventures with the camper, trailers or more can be done with the Ascent.
  • If you want more space, you've got it on the Ascent with its 153.5 cubic feet of passenger volume, against the 144.9 cubic feet available in the Toyota Highlander

2019 Subaru Ascent vs. 2018 Honda Pilot

  • The Ascent provides drivers with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, giving you the standout traction and control you need, while the Pilot offers front-wheel drive standard and has all-wheel drive only as an option.
  • The Ascent is able to provide more torque for added wheel power with 277 against the 262 found on the Pilot, which gives you more responsive acceleration and control as you drive.
  • The Ascent is longer, wider, and taller than the Pilot, and offers more room in multiple places while also having a greater ground clearance with 8.7-inches compared to the 7.3-inches on the Pilot.
  • Drivers are going to find that the Ascent has high levels of safety, with standard Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which includes automatic pre-collision braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and other features, which you'll find on the Pilot, but not standard across all models.
