PHILADELPHIA - Carson Wentz gained a new teammate over the weekend, his bride Madison Oberg.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback announced the wedding with his longtime girlfriend in a tweet Monday morning.

"Such a blessing to finally get to marry my best friend!" said Wentz, a North Dakota native entering his third season with the Birds.

"It was an incredible day and God has his fingerprints all over our story," said Wentz, 25. "I'm a lucky man with one amazing wife."

The tweet ended with an emoji showing two hands raised in joy and a hashtag suggesting a fairy-tale romance: #Wentzuponatime.

The couple wed Sunday night at a waterfront restaurant in Perkasie, Bucks County, according to the company that catered the event.

"We were so honored to be a part of Carson Wentz' and Madison's wedding last night," the caterer said in a Facebook post Monday.

"Perfect venue, perfect weather," said the post from Jeffrey Miller Catering of Philadelphia, which included a photo of the Lake House Inn on Lake Nockamixon.

Wentz and Oberg announced their engagement via Twitter in February, just days after the Eagles won their first Super Bowl. They later used the social media outlet to show off matching tattoos that read "Agape," a Greek word describing a love that's "sacrificial, selfless, and unconditional."

Oberg's Facebook page describes her as an intern with Mission of Hope: Haiti, a charity supported by Wentz.

Published reports indicate the couple's romance became public knowledge after Wentz hosted teammates for a Thanksgiving Day dinner last year.

In June, Wentz turned to Twitter to wish his then-fiance a happy birthday.

"You’re beautiful, smart, talented, and my best friend," the tweet said. "But above all, you have a passion to serve our Lord that is infectious, and I can’t wait to serve him by your side forever!"

Wentz is recovering from a torn ligament in his left knee that ended his latest season during a Dec. 10 victory over the Los Angeles rams.

Eagles Coach Doug Pederson last week said Wentz has been a daily visitor for rehab at the team's NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia, the team said last week. The coach has not predicted when Wentz will complete his recovery.
