PHOENIX (AP) - A former Phoenix police officer who pleaded guilty in the theft of drugs from the Police Department’s evidence-storage room is going to prison.
A court spokesman says Judge Peter Reinstein of Maricopa County Superior Court on Friday sentenced William McCartney to 3¾ years in prison plus four years of probation.
McCartney pleaded guilty in June to one count each of fraudulent schemes and theft. He originally was charged with 40 counts of those crimes and other offenses.
