Nuclear Policy Research Internship
Summer 2024

The Arms Control Association is currently seeking applicants for a Summer 2024 paid internship opportunity with our Washington, D.C.-based policy team. The intern will work as a consultant for up to 20 hours per week and be compensated $20 per hour.

The internship will start Tuesday, May 28, 2024, and run for 13 weeks, concluding Friday, Aug. 23, 2024.

Interns may work either remotely or in our Washington, D.C. office. Interns in Washington, D.C. will have opportunities to engage in a variety of networking and issue-related in-person events. Additionally, ACA will host its 2024 Annual Meeting at the National Press Club June 7, 2024. We invite summer interns to participate in and assist with the annual meeting, if possible.

The intern in this role will have the opportunity to:

  • Research and track policy developments, activities, and events.
  • Research content, write and copyedit print and electronic materials, including news content for Arms Control Today, fact sheets, Issue Briefs, blog posts, and newsletters.
  • Edit and upload content for the Arms Control Association’s website.
  • Assist in preparations for and support at the 2024 Arms Control Association Annual Meeting.
  • Carry out other tasks assigned by staff.

Qualifications
Applicants should:

  • Have completed or be working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., International Affairs, Political Science). Students pursuing advanced degrees are also encouraged to apply.
  • Be an effective communicator, both written and oral.
  • Have experience writing in multiple styles and voices (e.g., tweets, blog posts, news briefs).
  • Be self-motivated and detail-oriented, have good organizational skills, and be able to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines, and
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace (required). Familiarity with HTML and CSS is a plus.

Contract Pay and Details
This internship is a part-time contract position paying $20 per hour for up to 20 hours per week for 13 weeks. The internship will start Tuesday, May 28, 2024, and conclude Friday, Aug. 23, 2024. Interns will use their personal computer, phone, and internet connection and be available for collaborative work in our Washington, D.C. office or via video conferencing during U.S. Eastern Time business hours of 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Interns will be required to download and install security software provided by ACA for the duration of their internship.
