Second Atlanta Police Officer Resigns Due to Alleged Drug Use

The resignation comes on the heels of the arrest of former officer Christopher Kitcho, who alleged used his badge to impersonate an officer.

Another member of the Atlanta Police Department has resigned amid allegations of drug use, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Officer Kurt Dralle, who was assigned to the precinct which covers Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, submitted his resignation on Thursday after allegedly failing a drug test. A police spokesman told the AJC that the test was not random, but Dralle had drawn suspicion from officials.

Last month, Officer Christopher Kitcho resigned from the police force during an internal investigation into his alleged drug use. WSB-TV reported that Kitcho allegedly kept police-issued equipment for himself, including his badge. He allegedly flashed the badge at a DeKalb County police officer during a traffic stop and was arrested for impersonating a police officer.

The incident with the DeKalb officer spurred police to execute a search warrant of Kitcho’s apartment in north Atlanta, whereupon they discovered marijuana, cocaine, and anabolic steroids, WSB-TV reported. Police also recovered a rifle from the apartment.
