CRSES attends a Climate Change event and solar PV launch at Alllan Gray's headquarters

Staff from the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRSES) and others had the opportunity to visit the Allan Gray Silo 1 building in the V&A Waterfront on the 26th October 2017.  The event was hosted by Sustainable Power Solution (SPS), GraySwan Investments and Mettle Solar Investments and was focused around innovative thinking and responsible investments when it comes to combating climate change.

Their 125 kWp rooftop solar PV installation was showcased at the event.  CRSES conducted the feasibility study for this PV system, the project was designed and installed by SPS (who also perform the O&M), and commissioned in July 2017.  After the visit to the Silo 1 building, attendees had the opportunity to watch the new Al Gore movie, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power”  which addresses the progress made to tackle the climate change problem and Gore's global efforts to persuade governmental leaders to invest in renewable energy, culminating in the landmark signing of 2016's Paris Agreement.

The event allowed for staff from CRSES and others to network with attendees who have contributed to reducing climate change, attendees were from different sectors within the industry.

CRSES is very grateful for having the opportunity to attend the event and learn more about the common visions and goals these companies share in raising awareness to global warming and the role of renewable energy, positively contributing to sustainable initiatives and facilitating green economies which was conveyed throughout this event.
