Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson announced Monday that Kelsey Smith will be charged with second-degree murder and other charges in the brutal death of three-year-old Jeida Torres, which today was ruled a homicide by the New York City Medical Examiner’s office. The child died on Oct. 18 after allegedly being beaten by Smith. The District Attorney said that there is no arraignment scheduled at this time as the defendant is presently being held at Bellevue Hospital Center.
