PRIMARY DUTY: The Information Librarian / Electronic Resources Management position is a highly collaborative and service-oriented position. The primary role is to oversee all processing activities associated with electronic resources for B.D. Owens Library. Ensures continued access to electronic resources, and works with faculty, library staff, and departments to develop library electronic collections. The librarian teaches in the Library’s information literacy curriculum, contributes to Library’s Web services, serves as a liaison to academic departments, and provides research service, which includes evening and weekend hours.

 

1.     Oversee Electronic Resource Management system and cataloging of electronic resources. Manage electronic resource access and maintenance throughout the life cycle and track developments of new and changing electronic services and resources. Serve as primary contact for staff training and for troubleshooting with vendors. Gather, analyze, and disseminate database statistics.

2.     Negotiate license agreements with vendors. Collaborate with Coordinator of Technical Services in collecting electronic resource acquisition information. Communicate information regarding interface, content, subscription, and licensing with colleagues.
3.     Serve as liaison to a number of disciplines, monitor collection development and collaborate with university colleagues on procurement of appropriate materials to support curriculum and research in those areas.
4.     Partner with co-workers and academic faculty to deliver general education and subject-specific academic research instruction in-person and online, utilizing course management software, responsive web development tools, and library course guides to create research content for the curriculum and online instructional materials supporting departmental mission and vision for academic achievement.
5.     Effectively assist patrons with their information needs through personalized face-to-face and virtual research services.
6.     Serve on library, institutional, and consortial working groups as necessary.
7.     Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      Education: ALA accredited MLS/MLIS
      Experience: Experience in an academic library setting; demonstrated experience in completing projects in a team environment;
      Skills: Strong customer service, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong analytical abilities     
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      Education: ALA accredited MLS/MLIS with focus in electronic resources a 2nd master’s degree
      Experience: Three to five years of experience in an academic library; experience supervising student employees; prior successful experience working with electronic resources
      Skills: Exceptional customer service, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; excellent analytical abilities

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in a library environment with the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break, including a weekly evening shift and the possibility of additional hours as needed.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Typical office and library equipment
 
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to perform moderate physical activity with the ability to push carts of materials and lift 35 pounds.
