Optimism surrounds International Business Machines, as it gets ready to report its third quarter results on Monday, October 20, 2014. Analysts are expecting the company to book a profit of $4.31 a share, up from $3.99 a year ago.
Despite not changing over the past month, the consensus estimate is down from three months ago when it was $4.43. Analysts are projecting earnings of $17.92 per share for the fiscal year. Analysts project revenue to fall 1% year-over-year to $23.41 billion for the quarter, after being $23.72 billion a year ago. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $97.74 billion.
Over the last four quarters, revenue has fallen an average of 3% year-over-year. The biggest drop came in the fourth quarter, when revenue fell 5% from the year-earlier quarter.
