Employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 7 percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations. 

The Dental Assisting Program at Southeastern Technical Institute is an intense nine-month experience that exposes the student to all areas of the Dental Assisting profession. Dental assistants perform a variety of functions in the dental office setting. These include patient care procedures, patient management, dental office communications and business transactions, and dental laboratory duties. STI students perform 300 hours of clinical in at least two types of practices such as orthodontic, general, periodontal, pediatric or oral surgery.

Prior to graduation, the DA students take the Dental Assistant National Boards and receive job readiness skills. Upon graduation, the students are prepared to become licensed dental assistants in the State of Massachusetts.
