Senators stick with Craig Anderson against Bruins

BOSTON – The Senators are sticking with Craig Anderson.

Coach Guy Boucher has opted not to make any changes which means Anderson will suit up for his 499th career game Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins.

Trying to halt a four-game losing skid, this will be Anderson’s third straight start since returning from an undisclosed injury Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Senators, trying to lock up a playoff spot in the East, are trying to keep distance between themselves and the Bruins. They are only four points behind Ottawa and can close the gap with a win.

“It’s about today. It’s not about the past. It’s not about our record it’s about where we’re going to be today,” said coach Guy Boucher, who may change some of his forward lines but not take anybody out. “We’ve got energy today, we’re rested, we had a day off.

“We believe we’re going to be better.”

The Senators need a win here to get back on track. The Bruins are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs Monday in Toronto.

“It’s going to be a battle,” said captain Erik Karlsson. “We’re both good teams right now and we both play hard. It’s a fun place to play in so we’re excited to turn things around here.

“We’re going to focus on ourselves and not worry too much about what they’re going to do.”

Boucher said winger Mark Stone, out with a leg injury, has shown progress and has skated which is good news because he’s been off the ice for over a week.
