😎 We have launched our Crowdfunder UK top 100 list - a scan back over the last 12 months to celebrate and highlight some of our most amazing fundraising projects. The list is jawdroppingly inspiring - The 100 alone have raised over £18,000,000 and have been supported by over 400,000 of the population! It was no mean feat to decide who made the top 100, we have tens of thousands of projects every year to choose from! And it wasn’t just a case of choosing the ones with the most money raised or the most people supporting… It was much harder than that… I was asked to choose one from the 100 and to say something about - so, I chose one of my faves of all time - and that’s the (now) household name, Led By Donkeys… Their simplistic and ingenious campaigning over the last 5 years has continuously ‘hit the nail on the head’ as far as highlighting ‘accountability’ in politics. It’s simple, effective and very creative messaging is calling out flip-flopping politicians in the most simplistic way – by reminding us, the public, what they previously said or tried to win votes on. LBD have mastered crowdfunding, building a huge following that want to see their (often futile) frustration amplified through their campaign. It would pitch an idea to their crowd on the Monday, raise funds that evening, buy 100 billboards and then put up the posters on the Tuesday - it was live, tangible and exciting. It's continued to be a disruptor in protesting and political campaigning and has gone on to be a creator of content, investigative reporter, political fact checkers and a campaigner for transparency, honesty and fairness. For Crowdfunder, it started right at the very start of their first campaign, a DM on Twitter followed by a phone call… At a time when our political choices will mean so much for the future, when honesty and integrity is more important than ever, what better than a crowdfunded watchdog !
