Google Home Can Help You Find Misplaced Items

Google Home is a useful assistant for everything from looking up recipes to controlling your smart home devices. Another helpful feature? You can use it to remember where you’ve placed important items.

CNET’s Taylor Martin shows you how it’s done. In his below example, Martin tells Google Home, “OK Google, remember that I put my passport in the bottom drawer of my filing cabinet.” From there, you can simply ask Google, “where is my passport?” and it will retrieve the info you’ve asked it to remember.

You can use this for just about anything, from your bills to your tax documents to your keys. Obviously, if you tell it to remember where you put down your keys, you’ll have to add this information every time you set them down (and in that case, you’re likely to remember it, anyway), but it’s a fun feature to try out. For security’s sake, you probably want Google Home to forget this information eventually, and you can simply command it to “forget what I told you about my passport.”
