Atlanta Area Pumpkin Patches + How To Choose a Pumpkin

Atlanta Pumpkin Patches

Our annual Atlanta Pumpkin Patch Guide is the place to find a pumpkin patch near Atlanta! Pumpkin patches aren’t just pumpkin patches, you know.  Many pumpkin patches also offer hayrides, fresh cider, arts & crafts, and other fun family activities. While you’re planning your family’s Fall fun activities, check out our Corn Maze GuideHaunted House Guide and U-Pick Apple Orchard Guide! You might want to plan a visit to a haunted house on a date-night, sans kids. 🙂

The national average cost of a pumpkin in October of 2014 should be around 50 cents per pound. If the kids pick a pumpkin the size of a basketball you can assume you’ll spend about $7 on it. Based on our past experience at pumpkin patches, with two kids, you can expect to spend around $40-$50 at the pumpkin patch. You’ll want to enjoy apple cider and in the case that a pumpkin patch venue charges for a hay ride, don’t skimp.. buy the hay ride tickets. You’ll get great photos and your kids will love the ride!

How to choose a pumpkin for carving

  • A good pumpkin in typically a deep, consistent orange.
  • The pumpkin should be hard and not have cuts or bruises.
  • Choose a shape that works with the face or pattern you will be carving.  A pumpkin with a flat side can be easier to carve a face into than a very rounded pumpkin.
  • The stem should be attached to the pumpkin.

Below is a list of some of Atlanta’s most popular pumpkin patches. Let us know about pumpkin patches we’ve missed in the comments at the end of the article.
