A full card of stakes

Each race has at least one top-name dog in it; there will be some difficult handicapping choices to make.

The field will be cut to 48 after Sunday’s second round. It will be cut again, this time to 24, after the third round on Oct. 18.

The top eight in points move to the championship race on Oct. 26. The next eight run in the consolation race that day.

The championship purse breakdown is $76,160 for first, $38,080 for second, $19,040 for third and $15,232 for fourth. The remaining four places also receive money.

The consolation race winner receives $5,000, with the remaining $15,000 going to the remaining finishers.

Killer Carew won last year; Princess Maddy won the consolation race. Maddy is in this year’s event.
