Wild Hearts Idaho featured on
Good Morning America
Wild Hearts Idaho, founded by Maggie Benedetti, was recently featured on Good Morning America! Maggie participated in the 2016 Venture College Incubator while completing her master's degree at Boise State University's School of Social Work, and a graduate certificate in Non-Profit Administration. In 2016, Maggie launched Wild Hearts Idahoa non-profit dedicated to building leadership skills in teen girls, ages 12-18, through outdoor adventure in Idaho.

Be sure to watch as Maggie and Madeline Patterson, a current Boise State student, share about their work empowering young women through outdoor adventures across the Gem State.

Meet Chicana Foods
From Boise

Chicana Foods, founded by Allison Corona (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Photography, '10), was recently featured in a local news blog, From Boise. Allison participated in the Fall 2020 Venture College Incubator to learn how to develop her small business.

Chicana Foods features an adaptation of her family’s Salsa Macha recipe from Veracruz, Mexico. Read more about her journey as an entrepreneur in From Boise's newsletter!

Alum wins IGEM award to collaborate with INFlex Labs, LLC. and advance nano ink industry
Boise State News

Dr. Tony Valayil Varghese, a recent participant in the Idaho I-Corps Ignite program, is determined to advance the potential of nanomaterial inks for printed and flexible hybrid electronics with the support of an IGEM Commerce grant of more than $196,000. 
Through this grant, Boise State research scientist Varghese will be able to develop these inks and commercialize them in collaboration with INFlex Labs, LLC., owned and operated by Boise State University associate professor Dave Estrada and associate professor Harish Subbaraman.

An opportunity for higher education students across Idaho to form interdisciplinary teams as they work with Treasure Valley companies to solve some of the country's most pressing challenges in the home building industry. Cybersecurity Entrepreneur Challenge, presented by Micron and Boise State University

College of Innovation + Design
The College of Innovation + Design is offering two new programs based on Google Career Certificates

Google Career Certificates provide training and credentials that can lead to jobs in high-growth fields. In keeping with CI+D’s commitment to student access, affordability, and outcomes, CI+D is pleased to offer Boise State students the opportunity to earn select Google Career Certificates through their partnership with Coursera.

Courses offered this fall:
  • COID 297: Data Analysis 1 (first and second seven weeks)
  • COID 397: Data Analysis 2 (second seven weeks)
Students who successfully complete both courses will earn the Google Data Analyst Certificate, a credential recognized by 150+ companies in the Google Employer Consortium. 

UX Design

The courses offered in the UX Design Certificate craft an introduction to the skills and processes of working in the field of UX Design. The certificate…
  • Provides a competitive advantage in a growing industry.
  • Offers opportunities to receive certifications for numerous disciplines within UX Design.

You can explore these disciplines in a Hybrid course setting. There are four upper-division, 7-week courses, at 3 credits each. Take all four to gain the 12-credit certificate.

ENGR 398 - Perspectives on Engineering Careers
College of Engineering
COEN is offering this seminar series that highlights career opportunities for engineering majors. This series will focus on industries that deal with soft materials (i.e., polymers/plastics). Guest speakers from throughout the region will present to the students. This course will focus on the importance of life-long learning in engineering careers.

ENGR 398 will take place on Tuesdays from 3-4 pm in MCMR 106.

2021 Trailmix Pitch Competition

Trailhead Boise is excited to share that the application for the fourth annual Trailmix pitch competition is now open! Trailhead is looking for new and innovative food product companies from around the Northwest to compete in a unique pitch competition during Boise Entrepreneur Week, the week of October 18.

The goal is to create awareness for food entrepreneurs and startups, competing for the chance to get onto Albertsons store shelves + receive a cash prize.
