Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video to be released in 3D

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video is expected to get the 3D treatment.

John Landis, the video's original director, is working on a 3D version of the classic 13-minute clip, according to The New York Daily News.

"It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen," Landis said, adding, "I cannot tell you any more. I might have to kill you."

Jackson fans can likely see the updated video sometime next year, though it's unclear in exactly how it will be released.

Unveiled on Dec. 2, 1983, "Thriller" marked MTV's first world premiere video. In 2009, the zombie-themed clip was inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

The song appeared on Jackson's 1982 album of the same name, which also featured the singles "Beat It," "Billie Jean," "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing")" among other hits.
