A new Louisiana license plate recently hit the streets for sale. Written across the plate "I'm creole and proud" is a new effort to promote Louisiana's creole culture.

It's part of an effort to promote French speaking through the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, or CODOFIL.

The project was lead by Lafayette representative Vincent Pierre. State lawmakers unanimously passed the idea which was then approved by Gov. Jindal. Pierre hopes for other efforts to promote the creole culture even more.

The plate features a black pot, an accordion, a scrub board, and a fleur de lis.

The funds generated from the sales of the plates go to the French Immersion Program. They are available at your DMV for thirty dollars plus DMV fees.
