TORONTO – A construction worker has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after he was trapped in a pit and pinned by a 3,000-kilogram beam on a worksite at York University.
It is believed to be the same construction site where a man was killed in October 2011.
Toronto police say the man, believed to be in his 20s, has crush injuries to his lower body but the beam did not hit his head.
He was conscious and breathing on the scene before being transported to hospital.
Crews used a crane to hoist him out of the nine-metre-deep pit.
