Senate races

GOP will ‘likely’ take Senate, Cruz says

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is confident that Republicans will take control of the Senate in the midterm elections.

Cruz on Sunday said the U.S. is on the “cusp of an election that is going to” put the GOP back in charge.

{mosads}”I think it is far more likely than not that we will retake the Senate and retire [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid (D-Nev.),” Cruz said during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

A number of vulnerable Democrats are facing tight election races, which are critical for their party to maintain control of the Senate.

Cruz left it wide open when pressed on his future, and whether he will make a run for the White House in 2016.

“I think we will see the field begin to form sometime between January to June,” Cruz said.
