Man Killed in Bicycle Accident with School Bus

A 56-year-old man was killed early Wednesday in a Houston bicycle accident after being struck by a school bus.

Bobby Brooks was riding his bike near Hobby Airport about 6:30 a.m. when an unidentified yellow school bus struck him while making a legal right turn. The school bus driver fled the scene.

Police have not identified the bus or its driver. Houston and Pasadena Independent School Districts said that none of their buses were involved, but several private bus companies also operate in the area.

The accident marks the second hit-and-run death in less than three weeks and the 10th bicyclist killed in 2014 in the Houston metropolitan area.
