There are a handful of terrifying predictions from French astrologer and doctor Nostradamus that we should look out for in 2022.
Michel de Nostradame, as he was known at the time, published his infamous book Les Prophéties back in 1555. The book featured 942 forecasts, which allegedly foretold the future.
From the horrors of the Second World War and the French Revolution to the Great Fire of London, Adolf Hitler's rise to power and the creation of the atomic bomb, some of Nostradamus's predictions have been eerily accurate.
He is even said to have known John F Kennedy would be assassinated and the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York would happen.
He has predicted a host of bizarre doomsday events - from a zombie apocalypse to a comet hitting earth and even solar storms.
2021 has been a busy year for Nostradamus’ predictions. According to Sky History reports, the threat of an asteroid impacting the Earth has been at the forefront of predictions for the past few years.
Though it was unclear whether he was speaking of a small meteor shower or a catastrophic extinction-level event, Nostradamus referred to “Fire do I see that from the sky shall fall”.
In April of this year, the Earth did have a near-miss with the Asteroid 2021GW4, which came within 12,324 miles of the surface of Earth as its closest point of approach.
Here is a look at his top few prophecies for what the next 12 months could have in store...
War or invasion of France
It’s tricky to pin down exact dates with Nostradamus’ predictions, as they are based on astrological movements rather than the calendar. However, the prediction of war reaching Europe is one that can be narrowed down to perhaps being due in 2022.
A recurring theme throughout Nostadamus’ predictions is the invasion of France by a threat from the east. However, the following prediction is speculated to be referring to the spring of 2022:
“Blue-head shall white-head
harm in such degree,
As France’s good to both shall e’er amount.”
Much like all of Nostradamus’ predictions, this one is rather vague. While it could be alluding to the breakout of World War 3, it could similarly be referring to France’s qualification into the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Global warming
While this prediction may not come as a shock to anyone, given the climate over the past few years, rising sea temperatures were something that Nostradamus predicted in 1555.
“Like the sun the head shall sear the shining sea:
The Black Sea’s living fish shall all but boil.
When Rhodes and Genoa
Half-starved shall be
The local folk to cut them up shall toil.”
As global temperatures continue to climb, sea levels rise and food chain complications already starting to become apparent, is 2022 going to be the year in which temperatures reach breaking point?
Inflation, starvation and cannibalism
Another warning Nostradamus issued is about the rising prices in a failing economy - and even a hint of cannibalism. Nostradamus stated:
“No abbots, monks, no novices to learn;
Honey shall cost far more than candle-wax”
“So high the price of wheat,
That man is stirred
His fellow man to eat in his despair”
A worldwide pandemic, political instability and political instability have all contributed to an inflation boom in recent years.
While it could be possible that Nostradamus predicted the #eattherich movement, it’s also possible that this quatrain should be taken more metaphorically.
The rise of artificial intelligence
Considering how long ago Nostradamus made his predictions, it’s rather impressive that he appeared to hypothesise about artificial intelligence so long ago.
“The Moon in the full of night over the high mountain,
The new sage with a lone brain sees it:
By his disciples invited to be immortal,
Eyes to the south. Hands in bosoms, bodies in the fire.”
Many experts have already issued warnings about the implications of relying too much on technology, but Nostradamus was ahead of this curve with his description of immortal disciples and the potentially negative consequences.
