It’s official – life as a lawyer is worse than running errands for Lord Sugar. How else to explain why two legal contestants have taken the plunge and entered this year’s series of BBC’s reality (sic) TV show, The Apprentice.

London family solicitor Lauren Riley, 29, has already done her bit to get the profession rooting for her, declaring: ‘I’m a glamorous solicitor; they are in short supply.’ Riley also describes herself as an ‘entrepreneur and social butterfly’ on Twitter, as well as founder of The Link App (us neither).

Alongside her in the desperate rush to make Lord Sugar’s tea is Felipe Alviar-Baquero, a Colombian-born solicitor who has a stint at Slaughter and May on his CV. Rather depressingly he states that he studied the law ‘to change the world. But my real passion is business’.

Riley and Alviar-Baquero will hope they can emulate the success of previous contestant Alex ‘eyebrows’ Mills, founder of self-described ‘legal superbrand’ Dynamo Legal. Super as it may seem, things have gone a little quiet.

Dynamo Legal’s website no longer works and its last tweet was a link to a self-congratulatory article from July 2013. Mills says he is available for public speaking, however.

The Apprentice is on BBC1 at 9pm tomorrow.
