With six nominations, Iggy Azalea is at the front of the pack leading into next month’s 2014 American Music Awards.
The Hot 100 chart-topping, Australian-born performer is up for artist of the year, new artist of the year, single of the year, favorite female artist – pop/rock, and she’s in the running for favorite artist and album in the rap/hip-hop categories.
Following close behind is John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams with five nominations each, while Lorde is up for four awards.

Nominations for the ceremony, considered to be the world’s biggest fan-voted award show, were unveiled in full on Monday (Oct. 13). Also, organizers announced Charli XCX would perform for the first time on the AMAs, which will be broadcast live from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Nov. 23. ABC will air the broadcast live from 8 p.m. ET.
This year’s line-up introduces a few changes. The artist of the year category grows from five to 10 nominees, with Iggy facing off against Beyoncé, Luke Bryan, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Lorde, One Direction, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams for the award.
Meanwhile, the single of the year category grows from three to five nominees, including Azalea featuring Charli XCX’s “Fancy,” Legend’s “All of Me,” MAGIC!’s “Rude,” Katy Perry featuring Juicy J’s “Dark Horse” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.”
Trending on Billboard
AMA nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming and social activity. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound.
Voting begins today for all categories, with the exception of new artist of the year which starts Nov. 1. Fans can vote once per day at the Coca-Cola AMA voting site, AMAvote.com and they can lodge one each day via Twitter by including the nominee’s name, category name and #AMAs in a tweet.
For the 6th successive year, the “Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ The 2014 AMAs” pre-show will precede the big show. Live coverage will stream online from 5 p.m. ET on Nov. 23 at Yahoo Live, TheAMAs.com and ABC.com.
The 2014 American Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions. Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan are executive producers. Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco are producers.
