4-Day ORE II Manikin Course

This course is specially designed for beginners to ORE II, or delegates who have very limited Manikin skills. Delegates are taught: sitting positions, basic hand piece control, to indirect vision cutting with the use of a Dental Surveyor. The course follows the complete GDC syllabus for the ORE II exam, with live demonstrations, tutorials, and extended practise time. The course covers:

Day 1: Introduction to the exam, safe practise (including chair positions), Amalgam exercises Class I and II preparations and restorations.

Day 2: Composite Class III , IV, V and Cusp build up.

Day 3: FGC, PFM – anterior and posterior, Labial Veneer, Recording an Impression, Temporary Crown Fabrication, Lab Card

Day 4: Root Canal Treatment,Partial Denture Design, use of Dental Surveyor, Rest Seat preparation, Rubber Dam application

The course tutors will provide each delegate with written feedback for each exercise.

It is essential that delegates read and study the GDC Manikin guidelines. It will be beneficial if you are also able to practise simple cutting on model teeth prior to attending the course.

Endo teeth, instruments, materials, and full use of the facility equipment are included. This course attracts 24 verifiable CPD hours.

Lunch is provided as complementary.

Our Advice:

  • After completing your course, you are expected to keep practicing at home. Make sure to practice for at least 3 hours per session.
  • Allow ample time to practice before booking your exam. We recommend, on average, 4 months practice time before taking the exam.
  • We also strongly emphasise that candidates use genuine exam models and teeth, purchased from genuine suppliers. This will greatly enhance your preperation.

ORE II Manikin Private Revision Session

Private Revision Sessions are available with Dr. Fred. Please contact us to check availability or book. Can be conducted with groups up to 3 candidates. You can use this session to practice what you want. Teeth and other materials are included in the session, apart from Endo Teeth, which have to be purchased seperately. These sessions are perfect for candidates who want to practice in a more smaller and more personilsed revision enviroment with your study partners, or on your own!

Dr. Fred will be able to demonstrate up to 3-4 exercises in total, and can give them to the whole class, or to an indvidual candidate if requested. The day is a combination of hands-on pracitse and demonstrations. This session is only suitable for those who have already attended a Manikin class, either with us or elsewhere, and is not suitable for those who have not yet started practicing. There will be no teaching on this session, only revision.

ORE II Manikin Revision Course

Use this session how you like and practise the exercises you wish. Course tutors are on hand to offer you support and guidance as required. In order to benefit from these revision days, candidates must have completed an extensive Manikin training course with MR. Courses or elsewhere. Revision days are also suitable for those who are practising Manikin skills in preparation for their exams. Please note: These revision classes can hold upto 6 candidates. This means that Dr. Fred will not be able to give each individual candidate demostrations for different classes. Demostrations are given to every member of the class at the same time.

Materials, equipment, full upper and lower jaws and the use of the facility are included in the fees. Endo teeth are not provided. Candidates who wish to practise Endo can bring their own endo teeth/ tooth or can purchase from our office.

1st Day: Skilled OSCE Course:

Course includes a lecture and demonstration of all skilled OSCEs and guidance on how to approach each type of station with effective time management.

Our Skilled OSCE courses gives you the opportunity to practise and learn using the following:

3rd Day: Medial Emergency & Mock Course:

  • The course also includes surgical instruments for identification, the use of rubber dam kit, and suturing kit.

4-Day LDS II Manikin Course

This course is designed for beginners to LDS Part 2 and will cover the following:

Day 1: Clinical aspects of Cavity Preparation; Class I, Class II MO, OP Amalgam on Molar, Class II grooves preparation, Amalgam Restoration, Class V Preparation

Day 2: Crown Preparation: Principle of design in relation to occlusal relationship and questionable retentions. Veneer preparation and variations, PFM on Anterior, Gold Crown on Posterior, PFM on Posterior with grooves, Impression Technique, Temporary Crown.

Day 3: Preparation for Composite and Inlays/Onlays: Class III preparation Composite, Class IV Preparation, Class IV build-up, Class II Preparation DO, Tunnel Restoration Preparation, Inlay and Onlay Preparation.

Day 4: Endodontics / Prosthodontics: Anterior RCT Access & Condensation, Posterior Access, Rest Seat Preparation, Surveying, Partial Denture Design, Lab Card, Brief Lecture on ME and DTP (in last hour).

(The above is just an example on what could be covered each day of the course, but it can change depending on circumstances).

What the course fees includes

For all courses, the GDC and LDS guidelines are fully covered. Manikin exercises are demonstrated, where possible, inside the manikin mouth on Frasaco jaws. Delegates are supervised throughout their practise sessions and are guided at all times in accordance with the GDC / LDS guidelines.

Each delegate is provided with a complete Manikin with upper and lower jaws. The jaws come with a full set of teeth. Delegates are also provided with any instruments that are needed to complete the exercises. For all courses, materials and equipment are provided. An info pack is available for all delegates, which contains useful information on the course together with the exercises that will be practised.

Dr. Fred Mukwenda BDS, MPH, MSC (CONS)

Dr. Fred Mukwenda is our well renowned lead Tutor for our ORE 2 Manikin courses. He has vast experience and expertise in all areas of the ORE II Manikin. He is also well known in the field of dentistry and has been in clinical practice as a restorative specialist qualified from Eastman’s UCL.

He has taught at Londec and also has previously taught at Eastman’s UCL. He has assisted in the set-up of the ORE 2 Manikin Exam at Eastman’s UCL and have examined ORE 2 manikin candidates. Dr. Fred’s direct teaching, approach, expertise and guidance meets the examiner’s perspective.

Dr. Alka Chaudhari BDS, ORE, MFDS, RCSED

Dr. Alka Chaudhari passed her ORE in 2014 and completed her postgraduate exams to obtain The Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018.

She has experience in teaching all aspects of general dentistry. Since passing her ORE exams, she has helped and guided many candidates in OSCEs, DTP and ME to pass their exams. Dr. Alka also has experience mentoring nurses and students to help pave their way to be great healthcare professionals. Dr. Alka is also fluent in both English and Hindi.

 

Dr. Zeena Saad BDS

Dr. Zeena Saad has been part of the OSCE/DTP/ME team since 2016. Zeena has completed her MJDF and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr. Zeena has vast knowledge of the ORE exam and believes in providing the much care and exact precise details of the ORE Exam to all candidates. She is very caring, sympathetic and has amazing interaction with each candidate. Dr. Zeena loves passing her vast knowledge and her valuable experience to all candidates in attendance.

Dr. Noor Almodares BDS, ORE

Dr. Noor Almodares graduated from Jordan University of Science and Technology. She worked in general dentistry in Jordan for 2 years, then UAE for 5 years, where she supervised dental students studying at Ajman University. She also worked within a private general dentistry setting. Dr Noor is currently working in a private clinic in the UK. She cleared her ORE Part I and II on her first attempt and would like to share her experience with our future candidates.

Dr. Keerthana Kumar BDS, ORE

Dr. Keerthana Kumar is a post graduate in Periodontology and Implantology. She has a strong passion for teaching which inspired her to become a tutor. After completing her ORE journey, she wishes to impart this knowledge and experience to other aspiring candidates.

Dr. Sandra Bedford BDS, ORE, MSC (HONS), 

Dr. Sandra Bedford obtained her Dental Doctorate in Beirut in 1991. She ran her own private practice for 13 years, before settling in the UK with her family. She passed both parts of the ORE at her first attempt, then spent a further 13 years in practice in the UK, first in a mixed NHS/Private practice and then exclusively in private practice.  She completed her VT equivalence in 2011 and obtained a Masters in Restorative Dental Practice from Eastman/UCL in 2015.

Dr. Sandra has extensive experience as a trainer, working on OSCE’s, Medical Emergencies and the Treatment Planning components of ORE part 2 with CKL, and on the Manikin component with MR Dental. Dr. Sandra has been praised by her students for her empathetic approach and by her Eastman tutors for her outstanding hand skills.

LDS 2 TUTOR

Dr. Taif Salih BDS, MSC (Oral Pathology)

Dr. Taif Salih qualified as a dentist in 2004. Since then he has undergone postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in several dental clinics in UK and abroad.

With over 16 years of Clinical and Academic experience in under and postgraduate education, Dr. Salih has a thorough teaching experience in Academic and Clinical Dentistry. He has obtained various teaching certificates in academic medicine and clinical dentistry.

Dr. Taif has joined the MR Dental Tutor Team as an LDS tutor in 2020, for both parts 1 and 2. He is very passionate and keen to deliver high standard training to help all our candidates to obtain the essential knowledge and refine their clinical skills to meet the necessary requirements of the LDS exam.


Courses Terms and Conditions:

By booking a course with us, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

1. All course bookings must be made via our website unless prior permission from us is given to you to book and pay by other means.

2. Bookings will only be accepted and confirmed by email upon receipt of the Course Booking Form and a full payment. Both must be completed at the time of booking.

3. Places are offered on first come first serve basis.

4. If due to unforeseen circumstances a course is cancelled or postponed by us, delegates will be provided with the next available date. In the event of cancellation, payments will be refunded in full.

5. In case of serious equipment failure during a course or a power cut, we reserve the right to reschedule the affected course days.

6. If you wish to cancel or postpone a course booking, all cancellations and postponements must be made in writing. The following cancellation fees are applicable:

  • All cancellations and postponements must be requested in writing outling your reasons.
  • If you cancel within 2 days of your booking, then an administration fee of 15% is applicable.
  • Cancellations made after 2 days of your booking are subject to a cancellation fee of 50%.
  • No refunds will be given to cancellations made 14 working days after booking your course. Likewise, if candidates fail to turn up for the course.
  • If you wish to postpone your course, you can make only one change, subject to availability, at the Course Admin’s discretion. An administration fee of 15% will be charged. You must inform us in writing no later than 4 weeks prior to your course start date. Any postponements made after this time, may not be accepted and full fees will be charged.
  • Mock courses cannot be cancelled, postponed to a future date, or transferred to another candidate.
  • If you wish to change your booking to an earlier date (subject to availability), then an administration fee of 15% will be charged.
  • If you cannot attend your booked course due to illness or other emergency, please contact us immediately, and notify us in writing. We will endeavour to postpone your course to the next available course, subject to availability. We may request a Doctor’s Certificate for the illness declared.
  • Course bookings cannot be tranferred to another candidate.
  • Part payments on courses are non refundable.

7. You agree for us to use photos and videos of your training (if any), which may be used in future promotions. This includes within: print, video, online and broadcasted material.

8. Anyone caught or suspected of using recording equipment will be asked to leave the course and premises immediately. No refund will be given. Any equipment found to have recordings will be confiscated and the contents deleted.

9. Theft will not be tolerated. Anyone caught or suspected of theft may be reported to the police and prosecuted.

10. Abusive language or behaviour towards the tutors and/or staff will not be tolerated. Any offender will be asked to leave the premises immediately. No refund will be given.

11. We reserve the right to charge for any damage caused to the equipment and property to the responsible person(s) at cost at our discretion.

12. Delegates will not be able to take the tutors’ preps home. We are not able to provide preps or plaster models of any of the exercises demonstrated during the course.

13. We do not have the facilities to cater for partners, young children or other guests. Please do not try to bring them to the facility.

14. We reserve the right to change the course tutors without prior notice.

15. Delegates will automatically be added to our newsletter database.

16. If you lose your CPD certificate and request another copy, you will be charged a £10 admin fee.

17. All details provided on the Course Booking Form will remain strictly private and confidential. Your details will not be shared with any third parties.

18. For those attending Private or Revision sessions: candidates may be charged for the use of additional teeth.

19. Card payments may be subject to surcharges. Please contact us for further information.

20. We reserve the right to amend and alter these terms and conditions without prior notice.

21. Courses are not transferrable.

22. Lunch is provided as complementary. If you have certain food allergies and special dieitry needs, as we source the food from other providers, you may have to bring your own lunches.

23. Taxi shuttle service to and from Woking Train Station to the course venue will be charged for all days of the course. If you miss the taxi connection, then you must make your own way to the course venue at your own cost. In this case, no refunds will be given.
