TORONTO – Toronto Police say they need to find a potential witness to a double shooting that happened at a pizza parlour in Scarborough over the weekend.

Toronto Police Det. Sgt. Graham Gibson released several videos from the Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East area that were taken just before the shooting Sunday.

The video shows the witness, believed to be a woman, walking toward the Pizza Time on Markham Road where the shooting took place.

Another video shows the yet to be identified suspect vehicle pull into the parking lot. A man gets out and walks towards the pizza parlour while the car parks a short distance away.

At this point, Gibson said, the man opened fire in the pizza shop, killing 31-year-old Abdul Monir and badly injuring another man who is still in hospital.

“Despite any evidence to the contrary, it appears that this pizza restaurant was maybe targeted by somebody wanting to rob it,” Gibson said.

“I believe [the victims] got caught up in this plan to rob the pizza parlour.”

The suspect can then be seen running from the pizza parlour, across the Cedarbrae Library property and getting into the waiting car.

The woman police identified as a potential witness can be seen walking close to the library before she disappears from the security camera footage.

“I believe she would have been, definitely in the position to hear those shots,” Gibson said.

Gibson confirmed there is security footage from inside the pizza parlour but refused to say what it showed.
