You guys know I’m a Fantasy Football fan. One of the reasons I enjoy playing is the challenge. To do well, I have to look at player stats and analyze data. The analysis helps me decide who’s going to start and who will sit the bench.
Our friends at Kronos also understand the importance of making good operational decisions using data. Today’s Time Well Spent really made me smile.
Organizations today have a ton of great data to help their business performance. The challenge is using the right data at the right time. It’s also knowing how to read it to make those good decisions. Being able to gather, review, and analyze data is an essential skill. Using the data to make good decisions and implement an action plan will make you a high-performer.
The question is: what are you doing to learn how to find and evaluate your data?

In some way, we should be simplifying the software and making it smarter rather than making it more advanced by adding more tools and functions. “Microtools” which don’t distract but support the workflow can help with this. We also need to work on ability to act on the data in real-time rather than data gathering as a goal in itself.

Thanks for the comment John. I agree on the goal – having technology tools that allow us to react in real time. The challenge is defining words like “simplify”, “smarter”, and easier to use. What seems simple or easy to me, might not be as obvious to someone else. I believe it’s really about technology being intuitive, so we’re all able to use it equally effectively.
