Are you currently binge watching anything on Netflix, Hulu (or elsewhere)? What keeps you glued to the screen?
I’m not binge watching anything, but I do check Game of Thrones sometimes. I prefer the books, though.
Do you prefer movies or TV series?
I like both.
When it comes to reading do you prefer standalones or series?
I think series are more interesting because you get to spend more time with characters you like.
Do you prefer to start new book series when the first book is released or do you want for a several books in the series to be released so you can binge read?
Its always nicer to binge read. But then there’s all this people who have been reading for a while, and you feel late to the party.
What's your guilty “nerd” pleasure?
Oh, I sometimes collaborate with a Star Wars podcast/ Youtube channel.
Have you ever peeked at the ending of a book?
I always, always do that. First thing I do is read the last page. Thankfully the last pages don’t always contain spoilers. Nowadays, with internet, I usually want to read spoilers, but I’ve been trying to contain myself.
When it comes to your own writing are you a plotter or a panster?
Both. I plot a little, then write, then plot a bit more, then write, and I have a general sense of where I want the story to go. But I don’t lay out a full plot structure or anything. But I think plot is the point I need to improve the most, and I’ve been rethinking my strategy.

When two princesses ask Karina to
go to Whyland, a kingdom in a parallel dimension, to destroy her fascinating
and potentially evil silver shoes, of course Karina accepts. Who would refuse a
free trip to an alternate world?
Advised by a wise master and threatened
by a beautiful stepmother, Karina goes on a journey with a princess to defeat a
powerful witch. But Whyland is nothing like she expected. Karina finds herself
stuck in a kingdom she doesn’t understand, with no clue on who to trust. Before
saving anyone, she’d better save herself—if she figures out how.
From
Brazilian / Canadian writer Denise Marques Leitao comes Karina’s Silver Shoes,
a teen parody of fantasy and fairy-tale tropes with many female characters,
friendships between girls and women, and some subtle romance.
If
you like to read about strong girls and women, you’ve found your book.
Excerpt 3
Nia raised her
eyebrows. “Well, do you think you can just sneak into her fortress?”
“No. I mean… Wait.
Fortress?”
Nia put her
hands on her waist. “Where do you think she lives?”
“A… house?”
“Right, a little
house in the woods, without any protection.”
In reality that
was exactly what Karina had imagined. “And that’s not it?”
Nia got closer
to Karina and stared at her. “It’s a fortress, better protected than any castle
on Earth.”
“We’re still on
Earth?”
“Don’t change
the subject.”
Karina stepped
back and waived her hands. “It’s not my fault. I didn’t plan anything. I was
sleeping, the girls woke me up, they asked for help and I came. That’s it.”
Nia pointed her
index finger towards Karina. “That’s exactly it. They are only going because
you are going.”
