Syracuse, Notre Dame to square off at primetime at MetLife Stadium

Syracuse and Notre Dame will play at 8 p.m. on Sept. 27 and be televised on ABC, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday.

The game, which will be hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, will be the third time Syracuse has played there in as many seasons.

All three of the Orange’s visits to the home of the New York Giants and Jets have been known as the “New York College Classic.” Syracuse played Penn State there last year and Southern California in 2012, and both of those matchups kicked off at 3:30 p.m.

SU and UND have played each other six times total and twice in the New York City area. The Orange defeated the Fighting Irish at Yankee Stadium in 1963. In the most recent meeting, visiting SU pulled off a 24-23 comeback victory over Notre Dame in 2008.

The two programs will also square off at MetLife Stadium in September 2016.
