WE WANT YOUR 2017 PAPERGIRL SUBMISSIONS
Papergirl Blackburn is open for submissions. Send us your art, photographs, screen prints, paintings, prose, design, poetry, collage, drawing and doodles. You can send as much work as you want, but no bigger than A3 size as we need to be able to roll them for delivery. Papergirl Blackburn is open to everyone and all submissions will be exhibited for two weeks before delivery. To submit work write your name, email, website and Papergirl Blackburn on the back of your submission.

Papergirl is a community street art project originating in Berlin in 2006, which is now produced in cities worldwide. Art is collected from the local creative community, exhibited, and then, in the style of American paperboys, rolled up and distributed by bicycle in city centres, to random passers-by. The project was started in response to it being a criminal offence to post art in public places within Berlin. As placarding is an integral part of urban art, local artist Aisha Ronniger conceived an alternative way of sharing art in public spaces, without focusing on any particular target demographic.

2017 is the third year Blackburn has hosted Papergirl. Artwork will be collected from the local creative community, shared on social media and exhibited at The Bureau Blackburn. The exhibition open will include a live music event to celebrate the project, and work will exhibited for a two week period before being taken out into Blackburn towncentre and gifted to the people there.
