Tree trimmer falls 60 feet to his death from bucket truck in Madison

MADISON, Alabama – A tree trimmer was flipped from a bucket and fell 60 feet to his death after a limb he was cutting struck the bucket's arm, according to Madison County Coroner Craig Whisenant.

Jason Buckley, 47, of Union Grove was working on Silver Creek Circle near Wall Triana Highway in Madison when the accident occurred Friday afternoon, Whisenant said.

"He was in the bucket truck about 60 feet in the air when a portion of the tree began to fall to the ground," the coroner said. "It hit the boom holding the bucket and when the bucket sprang back into place, it threw him out."

Buckley was not wearing a safety harness, he said.

Whisenant was not sure who owned the tree trimming business. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
