DA finance spokesman Maynier says he wants to swap 'saying something' for 'doing something'
DA finance spokesman David Maynier will leave the opposition benches in the National Assembly for provincial politics in the Western Cape following the elections in May. Maynier is one of the DA’s most prominent MPs and was first elected to parliament in 2009. He has been a key campaigner for greater transparency at the Public Investment Corporation, which manages government employees' pensions and is the biggest investor on the JSE. He is placed at No 4 on his party’s list in the Western Cape, the only province the DA governs. The party is expected to remain in power in the province after the elections on May 8, despite a turbulent 2018 in which it was embroiled with its former Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille.
