UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE HOSTS THE 2015 AMSI SUMMER SCHOOL

 

 

The AMSI Summer School is an exciting opportunity for Australian mathematical sciences students to come together over summer to develop their skills and networks.

 

The school runs from 5 – 29 January. And to help you pursue your studies AMSI are offering travel grants to eligible students.

 

Taught by renowned academics some of the courses on offer this year include optimisation, continued fractions and intermediate probability.

WHEREABOUTS? PROF. TERRY SPEED’S AMSI-SSAI THIS SPRING

 

During Spring, Terry will be visiting NSW, WA, TAS and QLD.

 

Public lectures will introduce epigenetics, the ‘instructions’ which tell your DNA whether to make skin or blood cells or other body parts. And four technical talks will bring Terry’s recent research to students, academics and researchers.

PROF. KATE SMITH-MILES ACKNOWLEDGED WITH A GEORGINA SWEET FELLOWSHIP

 

Prof. Kate Smith-Miles is a Melbourne mathematician who is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration. With this fellowship she aims to develop a new paradigm in algorithm testing.
