Let’s just admit it: We REALLY need Cinco de Mayo this year.
Now don’t think we’re complaining or anything like that, but this sheltering-in-place because of the coronavirus pandemic has really put the kibosh on many a party.
And again, no offense to the rest of the country, but going outside and having a fun time is what South Florida is all about.
So, it’s tequila time people!
And you should probably eat something first, so here’s a list of Cinco de Mayo takeout/delivery offers from SoFlo restaurants and bars that will allow you to get into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo…at home.
ABC Fine Wine and Spirits

This retail chain will have a Virtual Tequila tasting on May 5 at 5 p.m. with Chris Spake sharing everything you need to know about tequila and how to make Cinco de Mayo cocktails. Bartaco has a Cinco Kit for $38 that feeds four people and includes two taco fillings (that can make 16 tacos), three side dishes, salsa verde and chips. You can choose a veggie or carne kit. If you add a margarita carafe for four people, the total price is $65. Bartaco will also have a virtual Cinco de Mayo party livestreaming on Instagram starting at 10 a.m. and going until the early evening with a yoga class, activities for children, a food demonstration, cocktail class, fitness session and live music. Caja Caliente is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a Taco Tuesday deal. Those who order take-out service will get a free beer with each taco order. There are also $5 taco specials, the Lechon Taco with black bean pico, caja aioli, queso and cilantro and a Chicken Taco served with black bean pico, cotija cheese and caja aioli.
California Pizza Kitchen

CPK’s Cinco de Mayo Specialty Taco Kit for $15-$24 with a choice of flap steak, mahi/ono or chicken for four servings. The kit also includes cilantro, limes, Roma tomatoes, serrano peppers, yellow onion, vegetarian black beans, shredded cheese and tortillas. You can add a margarita pitcher for $32 (or if you only want the margarita pitcher, it’s $35).

There’s the regular menu for pick-up/take-out, but there’s also Taco Family Meals packages, either a regular for $35 that serves four-six people or a large for $50 that serves six-eight people.
You get a choice of two meats: shredded chicken, ground beef, pork or grilled veggies. You can opt for fajita beef, fajita chicken, grilled shrimp or shredded brisket for an additional charge.
You have two side dish options: borracho beans, black beans, refried beans, cilantro-lime rice and/or Mix-Mex rice.
Both options come with chips, queso and salsa as well as fixings such as tortillas, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, cilantro, feta, garlic sauce and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Butt Burnin’ Sauce.
Fuzzy’s has also teamed up with AvocadosFromMexico.com to give 100 people free chips and guacamole for a year. To be eligible, all you have to do is buy guacamole made with Avocados From Mexico from Fuzzy’s on Cinco de Mayo and use the Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Rewards app. After May 5, 100 winners will be randomly selected and each winner will have one order of free chips and guacamole added to their Rewards account weekly for 52 weeks.

This restaurant says they can deliver a Full Fiesta to your door. The holiday meal package is $49.99, serves up to four people and includes pollo and carintas tacos (with all the fixings), chips and salsa, limes, Mexican rice. There is also a Margarita Cocktail Making Kit for $75 as well as add-ons such as Luchador masks, pinatas and sombreros.
